FALLS
World Premiere Musical Theater
Music and Lyrics by Andrew Small, Book by Anthony George
February 16 - March 13, 2005
Atop the Skylon Tower, high above Niagara Falls, a young woman
is threatening to emulate Blondin’s famous wirewalking feat.
Waiting anxiously below, her husband and her mother begin to reveal
her story - a story echoed by those of three exceptional men. Electrical
pioneer Nikola Tesla, endurance swimmer Captain Matthew Webb and
controversial mystic Lobsang Rampa, each of whose lives were consummated
in some way at the Falls.
The piece reveals how and why she arrived at this crisis, which
is itself echoed by parallel crises in lives of the complementary
characters.
Challenging, fantastical and multi-layered, FALLS builds into a
poignant yet uplifting exploration of those who strive for greater
things, and of what happens when they are achieved.
